Chasing a target of 186, Australian “bull” David Warner made a spectacular 45 balled 90 to keep Sunrisers Hyderabad in chase for a place in the playoffs.

Playing at the ISCA International Stadium in Ranchi, Chennai began strongly before Faff du Plessis got run out in the unluckiest of fashions. Suresh Raina walked in as Dwayne Smith carried on with his carnage before getting out in the 7th over but not before scoring a quick fire 47 for the side. Raina followed the suit and for once failed to perform in the IPL. Captain Dhoni walked into the middle and along with David Hussey, forged a 108 run partnership to take the total to 185/3 in the allotted quota of 20 overs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad began the chase in an explosive manner as both their openers, Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner, started the onslaught from the word go. The duo added 116 in the first 11 overs before Hastings managed to get the breakthrough as Warner walked back to the pavilion but not before taking his side into a comfortable position. Dhawan carried on with his innings as Sunrisers lost three wickets in quick succession to take the score from 168/1 to 184/4.
However, Dhawan’s presence in the center was soothing as the former captain of Hyderabad remained till the end as Venugopal Rao hit a four off Ravindra Jadeja to score the winning runs.
