#DreamCabinet: Social media users want Arun Jaitley as the Finance Minister and Sushma Swaraj as the Home Minister of India

Bangalore: No sooner had the buzz around elections subsided among India’s social media users, a new topic became viral — the new cabinet of the Narendra Modi government.
In fact, on the day of the election results itself (May 16), #dreamcabinet began to trend on Twitter.
We at Simplify360 analysed over 4000 tweets with the hashtag Dreamcabinet to see who the Twitterati want to see in the new cabinet.
Here are the results:
Finance minister: Arun Jaitley is a clear favourite, receiving 73.4% of the mentions. Following him are Subramanian Swamy (14.4%) and Arun Shourie (5.1%).

Home Minister: Sushma Swaraj leads the (online) race to be India’s next Home Minister. She received 24.1% of the votes.
A close second is Amit Shah, who garnered 20.8% of the mentions followed by Rajnath Singh at 19.7%.

Defence Minister: Former Army chief General VK Singh wins this battle, with 51.8% of the mentions. Following him is Rajnath Singh with 17.4% votes.

Foreign Minister: The external affairs ministry race is a contest between Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj. Both of them received around 50% of vote share each.
Many users have given multiple portfolios to politicians like Jaitley and Subramanian Swamy.

Law Minister: Arun Jaitley again emerges as a favourite to head the law ministry, receiving 65.9% of the mentions. Following him is Ravi Shankar Prasad, with 13.1% of the votes.

Methodology
We first collected more than 4000 tweets containing the term ‘#Dreamcabinet’.
The time period was May 16-19, 2014.
After sorting out irrelevant content (like jokes, questions etc), we narrowed down on tweets where there was a clear vote.
Retweets were also included in our sample. The assumption is that if a person is retweeting a particular choice, he agrees with it.
