“Whisper – Share Secrets, Express Yourself, Meet New People” is the HTML title tag of this 18 month old social network’s website, which is essentially a mobile app.
If you look at it, it would seem to be a just another social network where you can share things, express yourself. But, wait… through this app you can do all that “anonymously”
Yes, you heard it right – No Names!
“The Anonymity feature is what makes “Whisper” a stunner in the world of social media.”
Social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and other platforms have exposed the human psyche to the world, and certainly it has helped companies to map all types of personalities which use social media networks.
I think Whisper has identified the unstated need of today’s internet user and have done a great job by coming up with a very simple solution.
Why Whisper.sh cannot be ignored?
– It is only 18 months old, but now it boasting 3 billion page views a month,
– Users tend to use the mobile app for an average of 20 minutes every day,
– Users keep checking the content 8 to 10 times a day,
– Most users are aged between 17-28,
– 70 percent of the users are female,
Also,
Jeremy Liew of Lightspeed Venture Partners –the first investor in popular photo messaging application Snapchat, which was reported to have turned down a $3 billion offer from Facebook, invested $3 million in Whisper in April this year.
Whisper.sh is clearly designed in contrast to the identity focussed social networks like Facebook, Twitter.
What is the hitting point about Whisper?
While other social networks are majorly used by users for posting things they are proud of, Whisper.sh is a platform where you can spill your secrets which you would normally share with only a close friend.
Is it free?
Whisper.sh is free to download, but the users have to pay for sending messages to other users.
Let us know on what do you think about Whisper’s future – HIT or MISS?
